CPanel problem webmail can send email but can’t receive -SOLVED (2015)
So this morning I was creating my email account on my blog’s domain via it’s CPanel interface…
And then I’ve encountered something which turned out to be a quite common problem with the CPanel’s email accounts which many webmasters are encountering and trying to solve on various forums.
Naturally I opened a few of those forums and started reading, but I couldn’t find any clear solution.
Although I did find a clear description of the problem:
- CPanel webmail can send and receive emails only within it’s own domain
- CPanel webmail can send emails but cannot receive (I sent a test email from my Gmail and it couldn’t receive it)
I tried reloading, I tried re-sending, and I tried logging in and out, still no results.
Another suspicious thing I’ve noticed is that I thought I was sending emails from my blog’s Webmail to my Gmail, from my newly created email account there, but I was receiving emails from another email address which actually had my CPanel username in it! (and there was no account created with that name).
Then I contacted the wonderful customer support of my Hosting24.com web host company, they usually do a great job and they told me to file a support ticket in the members area.
So then I logged in in my web hosting account’s members area and saw the Webmail button there on the interface and out of curiosity I tried clicking it and in my particular case it led me to the CPanel interface, but this time not to log in into my entire CPanel interface to manage the whole domain, but instead the login screen asked to log in directly to my newly created email account, so I logged in, and voila! Done!
All of my test emails sent from Gmail were received inside the Horde Webmail inbox on my domain!
In case you ever had any such similar problems with webmail on CPanel or similar problems with sending and receiving emails on your own domain, feel free to tell me in the comments how did you solve it
